Ground Breaking for First Custom Home on Ambergris Cay!
August 10 marked an exciting milestone for Ambergris Cay and Sporting Club members Jay McInerney
and Anne Hearst- they broke ground to begin building the first custom home on Ambergris Cay’s
Columbus Beach South. The incredible team tasked with the planning, design and building of this
custom guesthouse joined Jay and Anne, daughter Maisie and son Randy to recognize the occasion.“Having the owners and the design and building teams all come together on the Cay truly brought Jay
and Anne’s project to life” said Caulet. “There are so many different aspects to the building process, and
it was a gratifying experience to witness the common passion each contributor has for the end goal.”The oceanfront guesthouse will include three single-story pavilions, including a master, two guest
bedroom pavilions and a living/dining pavilion. As is the case with each home built on Ambergris Cay,
an extensive amount of planning has gone into how the house is situated on the lot- what angle will
allow for the best breezes, sunrises and sunsets.“The Hearst/McInerney guest compound is sited on the property to maximize the water views while also
shielding the outdoor living area from the wind. The village-like compound is conceived of as a series of
unique small structures surrounding a common courtyard with a pool,” said renowned
Interior Designer Campion Platt. “The simple design style of the cottages reflects the local vernacular”.10.12.2009, Ambergris Cay http://blog.tcsportingclub.com/ground-breaking-for-first-custom-home-on-ambergris-cay/
