SunSentinel: Art Palm Beach brings expert panelists and lectures to West Palm Beach

Aside from the one-of-a-kind jewelry and innovative furniture design, the best part of the Art Palm Beach is the who’s-who of guest lecturers brought in for the fair, which runs January 20-24 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

“From the beginning we brought in the very, very best curators from museums around the country, icons of their time,” said Lee Ann Lester, one of the organizers of the 14th annual event. “And Palm Beach County really responded. Many of the events are standing room only.”

Around 20,000 people attended the 2010 event (6,000 alone showed up for the fair’s preview night).
Approximately 75 galleries representing 1,200 artists will appear at Art Palm Beach. For detailed information, visit ArtPalmBeach.com.
“Remember: we’re glass, ceramic, wood, photography, video and multi-media,” said Lester. “It would be very hard for any audience member to be up on what was happening in all those fields on their own.”

This year’s lectures and panel discussions include:
    Monday, January 24
2:30 p.m. – A lecture by Campion Platt, author of “Made to Order” with a book signing to follow.
