Today’s inspiring designer has a gorgeous portfolio, and a neat name: Campion Platt.

Though browsing through Platt’s portfolio will show you just how talented he is at pulling a room together, you’ll also see how intelligent he is. He also states that he values luxury, but is brilliant enough to know that luxury in one home is different than luxury in another home. Different people value different things. That’s why he might design an airy, spacious-feeling residence in a tiny New York apartment, or a sumptuously detailed room in a too-spacious Californian home. He senses what a particular home owner needs not just in terms of color and furnishings styles, but on a deeper level.

Of course, there is that layer of gorgeous style, as well. Platt’s interiors are varied, featuring lots of intricate textures, details, patterns and lots of colors. Layered, they always feature complicated yet understandable furniture layouts that give rooms so much interest and maximize efficiency. He also values fine craftsmanship, and often incorporates high-quality pieces in his interiors. He also loves material, and always finds the most exceptional of materials like leather, resin, marble and more. Always conscious of our impact on the planet, he also treasures eco-friendly solutions when possible.

In the business for years and having had a firm for over 20 years, it’s clear that Campion Platt (pardon our rhyme) knows where it’s at. Earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Platt also got a masters degree in Architecture—so he’s got the schooling to back up his skills. He’s also quite popular with the celebrity set, often designing spaces for celebs like Al Pacino, Meg Ryan, Roger Waters, Conan O’Brien, Jay McInerney and Anne Hearst. Though he does a lot of residential homes, his firm also tackles boutique hotel design and other commercial and hospitality spaces.
