PBSG Takes over PB Art & Antiques Market

There is now only one major art and antiques show in Palm Beach, and that’s the Palm Beach Jewelry Art & Antiques Show (PBJAAS). The American International Fine Art Fair (AIFAF), which has always preceded the PBJAAS, was recently cancelled after 18 years. Over the past 10 years the PBJAAShas continually grown as a result of the CEO Scott Diament’s tireless pursuit to become one of the top shows in the world. Scott Diamant, CEO of the PBSG, remarks, “this is phenomenal opportunity for us to make the show even stronger. We will use the extra time this year to enhance the look of the show and provide a true VIP experience for major collections. Wait until you see what we do in 2015, it will be a game changer. The 2015 Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & antique show will present over 160 exhibitors offering over a billion dollars’ worth of fine art, silver, glass, textiles, porcelain, furniture, jewelry, and more. The show will also feature Designer Showcase comprising six captivating vignettes created by the world’s most influential interiors designers, including the Showcase’s Chair, Campion Platt, Suzanne Kalser, Gil Walsh, William & Phyllis Taylor of Taylor & Taylor, Lar Bolander and Jenny Garrigues. The Designers have been asked to create spaces using fine art, furniture, and decorative accessories from exhibitors in the show, illustrating how antiques can be integrated into contemporary interiors to elevate and enhance today’s environments. Visit the designers profiles on Incollect.com to learn more and view past projects. Spanning every genre, and juxtaposing a variety of movements and styles, the PBJAAS continues to be the largest and most important event of its kind. Read More

Something’s sprouting at Discovery Day school. In October, the West Palm Beach preschool unveiled an organic teaching garden composed of four 5 foot by 10 foot enclosures packed with fruits, vegetables and herbs. The project was a joint endeavor by Palm Beach designer and architect, Campion Platt and Keith Williams of Nievera Williams Landscape Architecture. Platt, who lost weight in recent years with a more organic, plant based diet, was inspired to build the garden after creating a similar one at his family’s Hamptons home. “My son ate greens happily for the first time in his life,” Platt says. Platt selected the vegetation, while Williams worked on the design with help from Tropical Irrigation and Yohe’s Lawn Care and Landscaping. The students will tend to the garden which includes delights such as strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, sage and basil. Ultimately, Platt hopes the garden teaches the students the value of gardening and where food comes from and also reinforced healthy eating habits. “It was a little bit of my time and everybody else’s time and a little bit of elbow grease and voila – you have a garden that will teach these kids a lifetime of knowledge of food. Platt says. “It’s something I wish I had as a kid.” Read More
